199 hours is a LOT of time, efficiency is king!!
5 kitchen tools you need for a successful transformation, in fact just for a healthy lifestyle! AND think of how many hours it can save you in cooking time…
- The 3 Tier Steamer-
This Gadget, has saved me…. around 1825 minutes of cooking time in the last year!!
Why? Because you don’t have to stand there wondering if the water has boiled yet, you don’t have to check it every 5 minutes and you know when its done because it goes…. DING!
I wouldn’t be without one, simple as. In fact it infuriates me ever time I go and visit my parents or sister because they don’t have one. I’m sorry if you are reading this guys but veg sucks without one of these!
Also when boiling your veg you can lose up to 50% of the nutrients within the power packed veg that you’re trying so hard to eat more of. Whereas steaming only loses a fraction of the nutrients and in some cases actually INCREASES the mineral availability!
So first in the shopping trolley goes the 3 Tier time saving super nutrient saver steamer!
This one is a solid performer and reduced at the moment!
- The Slooooooooow Cooker
Right first up this may have been invented in your grandmas era but there is a damn good reason they are still around. If you ever want to save yourself a days worth of cooking then get one of these! The bigger the better.
Now, most people ruin a Sunday roast by over cooking their meat… Well no more! There are very few exceptions with this, the longer you leave it in there the better! You can literally chuck whole chickens, legs of lamb, shoulder of pork, whole ducks, even hamsters ( joking), with just a 1/2 cup of water and a bay leaf a sprig of rosemary and leave it for 8 hours (ideally overnight), or all day when you are at work. Come back home from a long day at work and you will be astounded at the masterchef like aroma and taste you have seamlessly created.
The one I use is the 6.5L Morphy Richards, it’s huge, awesome, and I can’t live without it. They also only cost £25. Big big big bargain, for the amount of time it saves you in the kitchen, most are energy efficient too so it costs less to cook which means a win win scenario. Again this thing saves me around 10-60 mins of cooking every time we use it ( imagine a slow roast pork… you would probably check it every hour for at least 2-3 mins, you have to baste it, stay in the house, be there 20 mins before and after cooking it etc etc.) We use ours at least one a week so it saves me cooking time of around 520-3120 minutes of cooking a year… That’s a lot of time and prep saved, making your life easier to facilitate getting healthy!
This one is like ours, its perfect for any recipe!
- The Microwave Rice Steamer
I have only just discovered this. Now, especially post workout meal – I can’t live without it! All I have to do is weigh out my rice, cover it with filtered water, put it in the microwave for 14 mins, and walk away! Usually I do this around 20-30 mins before I want to eat it, or directly after training and I know i’ll come back to perfectly cooked rice. Again it saves me around 14 mins every time I use it as I don’t have to stay in the kitchen or tend to the pan while I’m cooking it… If i train 6 days a week thats a staggering 84 mins a week saved not having to be in the kitchen… or to make it even more amazing let’s think big… 4368 minutes in a year!!!!
Look no further than this bad boy!
- Tefal Optigrill
I never thought I would need one of these, until I started to food prep in bulk. I used to cook burgers in batches on the pan, but of course you pretty much have to be there for 15 mins ready to turn them to make sure they don’t burn etc etc. Then I received one of these as a gift from my father and mother in law. You see the great thing is, it cooks on BOTH side simultaneously, so it cuts the cooking time in half! 8 mins tops and they are done, and it tells you if its rare, medium or well done etc. Love it! So that has already saved me 7 mins each time I have batch cooked burgers. There is also the fact I don’t need to be in the kitchen for those 8 mins as it has a beeping system that tells me when it gets to rare or medium etc. So actually it saves me 15 mins of cooking time or my personal time. Twice a week I use it, and thats not counting bacon on Sunday with the wee man and wifey and sausages batch cooked… So conservatively it is likely to be saving me 30 minutes a week, so 1560 mins a year of saved cooking time.
- Coffee machine!
First up, no right minded person lives without coffee 😃
Put coffee in, fill with water, press button, done the beep goes off. This is versus, boil kettle, pour into cafatiare, wait for the damn thing to mix and then plunge. Sod that, too fiddly, too long winded, never tastes as nice. I believe it only saves me 3 mins a day but thats a big 3 mins at 5-5.30 am so i should double that for the inconvenience!
Time saved 21 mins a week minimum, so 1092 mins saved a year.
So that concludes my 5 top kitchen gadgets for making your prep easier and for actually saving you a staggering 11965 minutes minimum in the next year on cooking time. I have just given you the key to unlocking time (the most valuable commodity) and the one thing you can’t get back! In all seriousness the easier you can make food prep the more time you can save whilst still prepping home cooked, nutrient dense foods. `This will actually improve your health as well as make you look amazing, on the inside and the outside, the better your overall results will be. So invest people! The total cost of all of this items is £165… for 199 hours worth of life back…. I would invest if I were you!
